Nat`l Poetry Festival begins

Staff Reporter :A two-day national poetry festival titled ‘Jatiyo Kobita Utsab 2016,’ the biggest poetry event in the country, began on Monday at the Hakim Chattar of Dhaka University. The festival includes recitation of self-composed poems by eminent poets from different countries, seminar on poetry and cultural shows. Poets from Bangladesh, Nepal, Sweden, Norway, India, Morocco, Taiwan and others are participating in the festival. Noted litterateur, poet and playwright Syed Shamsul Haq inaugurated the festival, while President of Jatiyo Kobita Parishad Muhammad Samad, General Secretary Tarik Sujat, poets Rabiul Hussain, Kazi Rosy, Aslam Sunny, Anwara Syed Haq, among others were present at the inauguration of the festival.  Thirty foreign poets and over a hundred of local poets are expected to recite poems at the festival. Foreign poets like Erling Ktensen from Norway, Milan Richter from Slovakia, Benaissa Bouhmala from Morocco, four poets from Sweden including Larsh Hager, Bengt Berg and Lotte Sederholms from Sweden; six poets from Taiwan named Lee Kuei-shien, Lin Fo-er, Lee Ruo-Ying, Fang Yaw-Chien, Tai Chin-Cho and Chen Xiu-zen and fourteen poets from India including Bithi Chattapaddhay, Soumitra Chattapaddhay and Rasbihari Dutt are attending the festival, said the organisers.
