Teachers, students and officials of Dhaka University on Friday observed the National Flag Hoisting Day with befitting manner.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the programme on the historic Bottala premises adjacent to Arts Building by hoisting a specially designed national flag, with a yellow map of Bangladesh inside a red disc in a green ambience, singing national anthem.
While addressing the congregation, DU VC Professor Akhtaruzzaman recalled the DU students’ contribution during the Liberation War.
He also urged the DU students who cradled all intellectual and democratic movements of the country to uphold their glorious role in leading the country.
DU pro-VC (academic) Professor Nasreen Ahmed, Treasurer Kamal Uddin, Teachers Association’s secretary Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, among others, participated at the discussion moderated by Bangla dept. teacher Soumitra Sekhar.
The then Dhaka University Central Students Union Vice-President ASM Abdur Rob hoisted the National flag of independent Bangladesh on behalf of Swadhin Bangla Chhatra Sangram Parishad atop the DU Arts Building for the first time.
