A day-long national conference on anthropology will begin today (Tuesday) on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus. With the slogan ‘Culture, Power and History’, JU Anthropology Department is organizing the conference at the seminar room of the department. Convener of the conference Professor Siddiqur Rahman made the discloser of the event on Monday at a press conference held at the teachers’ lounge of Social Science Faculty.
‘We have organized the conference to uphold the diverse culture, power and history of the country where teachers of anthropology from different public universities will take part’, he said.
JU Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam will inaugurate the conference as the chief guest at the seminar room of Zahir Raihan auditorium on the campus. A total of 17 research papers on identity of post colonial societies, migration, health, power, visual media, social movement and gender will be presented at the function into six academic sessions of the conference.
