The ARK Group National Weightlifting (Men’s & Women’s) Championship begins today at the gymnasium of National Sports Council. This is 35th Men’s Competition, while 12th Women’s weightlifting meet.
The competition in Men’s Division will be held in nine weight categories. They are: 50 kg, 56 kg, 62 kg, 69 kg, 77 kg, 85 kg, 94 kg, 105 kg, and above 105 kg.
The championship in Women’s Division will be held in nine weight categories. They are : 40 kg, 44 kg, 48 kg, 53 kg, 58 kg, 63 kg, 69 kg, 75 kg and above 75 kg.
The champion, runner-up, third place achiever of each weight category will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
The best weightlifter of Men’s Division and the best weightlifter of Women’s Division will get Taka five thousand each.
A total of 75 teams will take part in the gala weightlifting competition.
