National Throwball competition begins

The Walton 2nd National Throwball competition began on Saturday at Paltan ground in the city.
FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, head of games and sports welfare division of Walton, formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
On the first day of the men’s division matches, Bangladesh Police beat South Point School by 2-0 set while Khulna district defeated Dhaka Metropolitan Police also by 2-0 set.
In the women’s division, Bangladesh Ansar outplayed Mymensingh district by 2-0 set while Satkhira district outclassed Bangladesh Police by 2-1 set.
A total of seventeen teams – ten of men’s and seven of women’s – are taking part in the three-day meet, organize by Bangladesh Throwball Association.
The first phase of the competition will be held in league basis while the second phase on a knock out basis.
Participating teams: Men’s group – Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Khulna district, Mymensingh district, Glorious Sporting Club, Gazipur district, South Print School and College, Satkhira district and Jessore Science and Technology University.
Women’s group- Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Bangladesh Police, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Satkhira district, JB Sporting, Jessore Science and Technology University.
