National swimming competition begins

The 28th national swimming diving and water polo competition began on Sunday at Syed Nazrul Islam national swimming complex at Mirpur.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed and president of Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF) formally inaugurated the meet as chief guest. BSF general secretary Rafiz Uddin Rafiz and tournament committee’s chairman MB Saif, among others, were present on the occasion.
On the first day of the competition, one new national record was created when the last report came this (Sunday) afternoon. Swimmer Mahfizur Rahman set the new national record in the man’s 200m free style clocking 01:58.44 breaking his own previous record in the same event he made two years back.
The three-day competition included swimming, diving and water polo events, organized by Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF).
A total of 684 swimmers including 555 of men’s and 129 of women’s from 67 teams of different districts, divisional sports associations, BKSP, educational boards, services teams and swimming clubs from across the country are taking part in the meet.
