The First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey Tournament will begin on January 25. A total of 120 schools will compete in the first phase of the competition. The first phase will be held at 11 venues. They are: Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Faridpur, Jessore, Chuadanga, Sylhet, Comolla, Barisal Dinajpur and Mymensingh. A total of 32 schools will qualify for the final round. The final round will be held at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium.
Marking the upcoming hockey competition, a press conference was held at the Auditorium of National Sports Council Tower on Sunday.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) Khawja Rahmatullah, Jint-Secretary of the Federation Ahvir Adil Khan, Head of Development and Marketing of First Security Islami Bank Limited Azam Khan, Adviser of ATN Bangla Mir Motahar Hasan, Secretary of the School Hockey Tournament ANM Mamunur Rashid were present, among others.
The budget of the tournament is Tk 2,35,00,000 while First Security Islami Bank, the sponsor of the competition gave Tk 2,00,00,000 to BHF.
The formal opening progrmme will be held at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on December 17. President of International Field Hockey Federation (FIH) Leonardo Negre will open the meet as the chief guest.
A new artificial turf will be set at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on the same day.
Besides, a new artificial turf will be set at the BAF Shaheen School & College today.
Leonardo Negre will be the chief guest and will lay foundation stones at the both venues.
