National Mourning Day observed

The National Mourning Day marking the 42nd anniversary of the killing of Bangobandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with his family members and relatives was observed on Tuesday with due respects in Barisal.
District and city units of ruling AL and its front organisations, different political, socio-cultural, educational institutions, professional organisations including Barisal Reporters Unity, district administration and family members of the martyrs of August 15 black-day separately organised different types of programmes on this occasion.
The programmes of the day included discussion meeting on life and achievements of Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujib and other martyrs, holding condolence rally, Quran Khawani, Hamd-Naat, Milad and DOA, feeding the poor, cultural function, voluntary blood donation, painting competition, poetry recitation, broadcasting lectures of Bangabandhu and songs of liberation war, placing wreaths at the portrait of Sheikh Mujib, Abdur Rob Serniabad and other victims of the August 15.
The participants of the programmes demanded execution of the punishments of the killers who still at large and trial of the conspirators behind the killing.
Advocate Talukdar Md. Yunus, AL lawmaker and district AL secretary, Jebunnesa Afroj, AL lawmaker, Golam Abbas Chowdhury Dulal, AKM Jahangir, Sadik Abdullah, president, secretary and joint secretary of city AL secretary along with leaders and activists of AL and its front organisations, placed flower wrath at the portraits of Bangabondhu, Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabad at Barisal Ashwini Kumar Hall and led a mourning rally on city roads in morning.
Barisal district and divisional administrations held discussion meeting at Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city presided over by Habibur Rahman, deputy commissioner. Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Barisal branch, organized painting competition, and Bangabondhu Sangskritik Jote Barisal branch held 3-day long cultural and discussion programmes on this occasion. Abdur Rob Serniabad, former minister, lawmaker and brother in law of Bangabondhu, Baby Serniabad and Arif Serniabad, daughter and son of Abdur Rob Serniabad, Sukanta Babu Serniabad, grandson of Abdur Rob Serniabad and son of Abul Hasanat Abdullah, Journalist Shahid Serniabad, nephew of Abdur Rob Serniabad, and Abdun Naim Khan Rintu, a singer and director of Opsonin Group of Barisal, two female domestic helps were also among the martyrs on that black night
Bagerhat Correspondent reports: The National Mourning Day-2017 and 42nd martyrdom of the architect of Independence and the Father of the Nation Bangubandhu Shaikh Mujibor Rahman was observed in Bagerhat district town and its all the nine Upazilas with due respect and solemnity by the district administration, Upazila administrations and political and socio-cultural organizations on Tuesday as else where of the country.
Different programmes including rally, discussion meeting, Doaa Mahfil, Quran Khani etc. were held in the district town to mark the day. Discussion meeting was organized in the local Swadhinata Udyan by the district administration with Tapan Kumar Biswas, DC, Bagerhat in the chair. Al-haj Dr. Moazammel Hossain, MP of Bagerhat Constituency-4 and the President of the Parliamentary Permanent Committee of the Ministry of Social welfare affair addressed the the meeting as th chief guest while Al-haj Adv. Mir Shawkar Ali Badsh, MP of Bagerhat Constituency-2 and the President of the Parliamentary Permanent Committee of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock affair addressed the same as the special guest.
BSS from Narsingdi says: The National Mourning Day was observed in the district on Tuesday with various programmes.
On the occsion speakers at a post rally discussion organized by district administration at local Shilpakala Academy here said the statehood Bangladesh would never come true if Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was not born. They said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to build a secular state, which will be free from terrorism, corruption and exploitation. But on 15 August 1975 the anti-liberation forces killed him brutally along with other family members and relatives.
The speakers said Bangladesh emerged as an independent country in 1971 under Bangabandhu’s charismatic and extra ordinary leadership.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Shubash Chandra Biswas addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) ANM Faizul Hoque in the chair.
Among others Police Super Amena Begum BPM, Chief executive of Zila Parishad Siddiqur Rahman, former Principal of Narsingdi Government College Golam Mostafa Miah, Principal of Abdul Kader Mollah City College Dr. Moshiur Rahman Mirdha and District Muktijoddha Commander Abdul Motaleb Pathan addressed the meeting.
The chief guest Dr. Shubash Chandra Biswas said the ideology of Bangabandhu could not erased by killing him as he would remain alive in the heart of the people of Bangladesh forever. He said Bangabandhu was amongst us and would remain with us forever.
The Deputy Commissioner urged all for working together in building a prosperous Bangladesh as dreamt by father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
