ICC suspends Sunny, Taskin for illegal bowling action

Sabbir Hossain :The International Cricket Council (ICC) has temporarily suspended spinner Arafat Sunny and pacer Taskin Ahmed for illegal bowling action. The two key Bangladeshi bowlers have been suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect. According to an ICC news release, analysis of Arafat’s bowling action revealed the elbow extension for majority of his deliveries had exceeded the 15 degrees’ level of tolerance permitted under the ICC regulations for the review of bowlers reported with suspected illegal bowling actions.On the other hand, all of the deliveries of Taskin Ahmed were not legal.The umpires suspected about the bowling actions of Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny during the match of the qualifying round of the ICC World Twenty20 2016 between Bangladesh and Netherlands on March 9.Later, spinner Arafat Sunny appeared at the Ramchandra University in Chennai for testing his bowling action on March 12 and pacer Taskin Ahmed took part in the examination of his bowling action in Chennai on March 15. Both of them failed to prove their bowling action legal.Left-arm spinner Saqlain Sajib and off-spinner Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury will be the replacement of Arafat Sunny and Taskin Ahmed. They will leave the city today for India.A veteran sports journalist and former player of First Division Cricket League of Bangladesh said, ” The action against the two bowlers is a part of conspiracy. Especially Taskin Ahmed, who is now one of the fastest bowlers in the world. To break the confidence of Bangladesh Cricket team, some of the leading cricket playing countries are hatching conspiracy.”
