The National Mourning Day was observed in a befitting manner in Sherpur district on Friday.
Sherpur district administration, Bangladesh Awami League and its front organizations, different cultural organizations, freedom fighters, political leaders arranged different programs on that occasion.
The day also observed nicely in Jhenaigati, Sribordi, Nakla and Nalitabari upazila of the district.
The programmes of the 39th death anniversary of the father of nation,
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, started at sunrise hoisting the national flag at half mast. People gathered at the compound of Collectorate office and paid respect at Sheikh Mujib’s mural. A mourning procession was brought out from DC office and it paraded the main roads of the town. The procession ended at the Shilpakala Academy.
Baraigram (Natore) Correspondent adds: The 39th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day was observed in Baraigram on Friday.
On the occasion of the day, Upazila Administration, Bonpara Pouro Shava, socio-cultural organizations, educational institutes, political bodies took programmes. Of them, Upazila Administration arranged a discussion meeting in it’s premises in the morning. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mst. Sharifunnesa presided over the meeting and the Member of the Parliament (M.P) of Natore-4 seat Prof. Abdul Kuddus was present as a chief guest.
In the afternoon, Bonpara Pouro Shava also arranged another discussion meeting. It was presided over by Bonpara Pouro Mayor K.M.Jakir Hossain. Then, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mst. Sharifunnesa was present as a chief guest. Also, Upazila AL-Secretary Adv. Mizanur Rahman, Principal Abdur Razzak, Upazila Mukhti Joddah Commander Md Shamsul Haque were present as special guests. This meeting was conducted by Bonpara Pouro Secretary Md Rezaul Islam.
Chapainawabganj Correspondent adds: The 39th martyrdom anniversary of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day was observed in Chapainawabganj with due honour .
Wreaths were placed at the portrait of the Father of the Nation at Chapainawabganj Government College Square.
Representatives of Chapainawabganj district administration, police, sadar upazila parishad and Shilpakala Academy took part in the programme. Chapainawabganj district administration arranged a mourning procession from Abdul Mannan Sentu Market Square in the morning. After parading the main roads of the town it ended at Shahid Satu Hall where a discussion meeting was held. It was held with the deputy commissioner of Chapainawabganj Mohammad Jahangir Kabir in the chair and was addressed among others, by law maker of Chapainawabganj sadar constituency Md. Abdul Wadud as chief guest, superintendent of police Bashir Ahmed, principal of Nawabganj Government College Professor Sultana Razia and chairman of the Department of Bangla of Nawabganj Government College Professor Dr. Mazharul Islam Toru.
After the discussion, prizes were distributed among the winners of different competitions held earlier.
Gazipur Correspondent adds: The National Mourning Day was observed by Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital & Nursing College, Tetuibari, Kashimpur, Gazipur with due solemnity. The Day was started observing with hoisting of the National Flag at half mast and a Special Quran Khani in the morning while a Milad Mahfil, Special Munajat and food distribution among 250 people were done after Juma Prayer to remarking the day by the hospital authority. This year for the first time after inauguration they organized such program.
BSS from Rangpur adds: The National Mourning Day-2014 and 39th martyrdom anniversary of the Architect of Independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in Rangpur division paying rich tribute to Bangabandhu on Friday.
The district and upazila administrations, Awami League (AL), its front organisations, different socio-cultural, political and professional organisations, educational institutions, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad and other organisations observed the Day befittingly.
The daylong programmes included hoisting of the national flag at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous, private buildings and educational institutions soon after the sunrise, hoisting of black flags and wearing of black badges.
High officials of the district and upazila administrations, leaders of Al district unit placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Shaheed Minars and observed one-minute silence before bringing out mourning processions in the district and upazila towns and cities.
