National Legal Aid Day observed

National Legal Aid Day-2016 was observed in the district yesterday with a call to stand beside the distressed people to conduct their cases smoothly to ensure fair justice by the courts.
Marking the day, district judgeship and magistracy jointly chalked out the elaborate programmes that included blood donation, discussion meeting, setting up stalls on the court premises and cultural function in cooperation with SKS Foundation, GUK, Friendship and RDRS Bangladesh.
In the morning, a colourful rally was brought out from the premises of the district judge court here around 9.30 am and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the town.
District and sessions judge Rasheda Sultana with deputy commissioner M Abdus Samad and superintendent of police M. Ashraul Islam led the rally.
Later, district and session judge Rasheda Sultana addressed a post rally gathering on the court premises as the chief guest.
District and sessions judge Rasheda Sultana in her speech said the district legal aid committee formed by the government has been playing significant role for the last few years in ensuring fair justice for the distressed people of the district.
She also underscored the need for standing beside the distressed of the society on humanitarian ground and helping them always by conducting their cases smoothly.
District judge of Nari o Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal Ratneswar Bhattacharja, additional district judge M. Shariful Islam, chief judicial magistrate M. Shahidullah, district legal aid officer and senior assistant judge Rawshan Alam, government pleader Hafizur Rahman, public prosecutor M. Shafiqul Islam, president of district bar association Faruque Ahmed Prince and general secretary Ahsanul Kabir Lachhu were present on the occasion.
