The 24th National Karate Competition began on Wednesday at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium at Mirpur in the city.
Deputy Minister on Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy MP formally inaugurated the two-day meet as the chief guest. National Sports Council Secretary Ashoke Kumar Biswas was present as special guest.
Bangladesh Karate Federation (BKF) general secretary Sheikh Al Ahasan was also present on the occasion.
Near about one thousand men and women participants form different district sports associations, divisional sports associations, universities, services teams are taking part it thirty categories of the competition, organized by BKF.
