National Health Service Week being observed

The National Health Service Week is being observed across the country in befitting manner.
The week is being observed aimed at creating awareness about the importance of providing healthcare at the doorsteps of common people and ensuring nutrition for all, which is vital for development, productivity and economic growth.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the programme at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in city’s Agargaon on Tuesday.
The premier, in her speech, called upon people concerned for
mainstreaming the traditional medicine through a renewed focus on the age-old indigenous healthcare system alongside the conventional drugs.
The theme of the Week of this year is ‘Ensure Health Service Right: Promise of Sheikh Hasina’ (Sasthyo Sheba Odhikar, Sheikh Hasinar Angikar).
At the inaugural ceremony, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque expressed his optimism that the country would achieve the milestone in the health sector within the shortest possible time under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman included the right of nutrition as a fundamental need and inducted it into the constitution.” he said.
On the second day of the week, all hospitals are providing special health services, including special outdoor services. Health Minister attended a programme on non-communicable diseases (NDCs) at Jatiya Press Club in the city in the afternoon.
Later, he joined a discussion on “Ethics in Health Service” around 4 pm organised by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) at its auditorium in city’s Shahbagh area.
