‘National economy would be stronger if Phulbari coal production started’

The national economy of Bangladesh would be stronger and there would be a huge development in the country if the coal production of Phulbari under Dinajpur district and Khalashpir in Rangpur district is started.
Md Nasrul Hamid MP, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said those while he was visiting the Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Ltd (BCMCL) and Maddhyapara Granite Mining Company Ltd (MGMCL) on Friday .
Adv Md Mostafizur Rahman, lawmaker of Dinajpur-5 constituency and Minister for Primary and Mass Education Ministry was accompanied him.
The ministers also visited the 250MW Barapukuria power plant.
Earlier, the ministers arrived at the mine site in Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur Friday morning by a helicopter
After visiting the mines and the coal fired power plant of Bangladesh Power Development Board, the ministers held a meeting with the officials BCMCL and MGMCL arranged at the conference room of BCMCL.
The state minister for power said that Dinajpur and Rangpur marked as rich for coal. But the national resources under a victim of politicized and remained in underground. if coal production from Phulbari and Khalashpir of Rangpur would started Bangladesh would see a dramatic development, added the state minister.
Mostafizur Rahman Primary and Mass Education Minister supporting the proposed Phulbari coal mine said that if there is a development there will be a losses. ‘We have to monitor the rate of damages to our environment’ he added.
Dr. Mozammel Haque Khan Secretariat of Energy and Mineral Resource Ministry, Engineer Md. Quamruzzaman Director [Operation and Mines] of Patrobangla were also present at the meeting.
Later, the minister left for Dhaka by a helicopter.
