‘National economy to increase 40pc in 2021’

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu today said ‘National Industrial Policy 2015’ has been formulated with a target of increasing the national economy of the industrial sector to 40 percent from 28 percent.
“The stake of industrial sector to the national economy was now at 28 per cent but the National Industrial Policy 2015 has been prepared with an aim to raise the stake of industrial sector to 40 percent to the national economy.”
He was speaking as the chief guest at the opening session of post graduate courses at Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM) at city’s Dhanmondi area.
“Government believes that rapid industrialization is the key to the country’s economic development said Amu adding that the implementation of the new policy is an integrated strategy of economic growth through rapid industrialization.”
BIM Director General Mohammad Atoar Rahman, Industry Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan also spoke, among others.
The minister said, “We want to make BIM as ‘Center of Excellence’ with continuous support from Government and BIM also has to introduce new diploma courses according to the demand of time.”
Criticizing the countrywide strike-blockade called by BNP led 20-party alliances, the minister said, “BNP-Jamaat is unleashing anarchism across the country in the name of democratic movement to destroy country’s economy, but the government will not tolerate all these violence anymore and stern action will be taken against them.”
