National Disaster Preparedness Day observed

The National Disaster Preparedness Day was observed with a befitting manner in Gopalganj on Sunday. District Administration, Gopalganj organised the program and they brought out a colorful rally and chanting slogans. The rally paraded main roads in the city.
Afte rally a discussion meeting and a rescuing operation rehearsal on earthquake and fire disaster held at Govt. Sheikh Girls High and College premises.
A rescue team of Fire service and civil Defense station, Gopalganj sadar unit displayed the rehearsal show on the day.  
BSS from Rangpur adds: Experts here have said efficient disaster management has made Bangladesh a global role model in managing natural disasters and reducing losses of human lives.
They viewed this at the discussion organised by the district administration in association with Department of Disaster Management at Zila School ground on Sunday to observe the National Disaster Preparedness Day-2019.
The district administration brought out a rally on the streets and organised drawing competitions for school students on natural disasters in Members of Rangpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Station demonstrated mock fire fighting and earthquake management drills there in presence of many common people, officials, students, youths and teachers.
Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib addressed the discussion as chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Syed Enamul Kabir in the chair. Assistant Director of Rangpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Md. Yunus Ali, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Akhteruzzaman and
Head Teacher of Zila School AR Mizanur Rahman addressed. Yunus Ali said the government is working with utmost sincerity to strengthen efficient emergency response management systems, training, education, disseminating information and warnings among common people to reduce risks of natural disasters.
Akhteruzzaman said Bangladesh has achieved laudable success in innovating newer ways and educating people on early preparedness and post- disaster managements to reduce risks and losses of human lives during natural disasters.
He said Bangladesh has become a role model of disaster managements by reducing losses of lives through efficient managements of natural disasters
like floods, tidal surges, cyclones, droughts and erosion.
“The losses of human lives could be reduced further by ensuring adequate disaster preparedness and providing training on basic first aids to
volunteers, students and youths to enhance their skill for assisting victims timely on spots,” he said.
