Election campaign in the port city was not stopped even on the Pahela Baishak celebrations on Tuesday .
The candidates for mayor and councilors are running door to doors of the city dwellers to convey the message of Pahela Baishak as well as seeking blessings from them to cast their votes to the respective candidates on April 28 elections.
Meanwhile, Awami League -led 14-party backed mayor aspirant AZM Nasir attended the Pahela Boishak welcoming function(Barsha Baran) at DC Hill premises on Tuesday morning.
At the same time of participating the Boishaki function, AZM Nasir conveyed New Year’s greeting to all present on the occasion. In his brief deliverations, Nasir welcomed the Bangla New Year and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of the country in coming year .
Later, he exchanged views with the audiences and sought their cooperation in the upcoming mayor election.
Among others former city mayor and city AL President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, veteran journalist Abed Khan , city AL Vice President Khorshed Alam Sujan, Sramik League leader Safar Ali and City AL Organizing Secretary Noman al Mahmud were present on the occasion.
Business community seek vote for Nasir: The business community irrespective of opinions in port city launched mass contact programme in the city areas as election campaign for AL- backed Mayor nominee AZM Nasiruddin from Monday evening.
The business circle of Khatungonj, Chaktai and Asadgonj business hub of the port city launched this program on Monday evening. During their mass contact sought vote for Elephant symbol for turning the city into a healthy city and as well to release the city dwellers from the miserable waterlogging crisis specifically in the business hubs of the city.
Among others in the mass contact program, General Secretary of Khatungonj Trade and Industries Association Syed Sagir Ahmed, former Director of Chittagong chamber of commerce Alamgir Parvez, Chaktai trade Association Secretary and former councilor Md. Jamal Hossain, leader of Hamidullah Business Assocciation Absar Uddin , co-chairman of Nagorik Committee Dipankar Chowdhury, Abul Bashar Chowdhury,and the leading business magnets of Khatungonj, Chaktai participated the programmes.
