A Dhaka court yesterday exempted actress Pori Moni from personal appearance in a narcotics case considering her advanced stage of pregnancy.
Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of the Special Judge Court-10 of Dhaka passed the order after Pori Moni’s lawyer Nilanjona Rifat submitted an application, seeking her exemption from personal appearance in the court.
Earlier in the day, the defense lawyer completed cross-examining the complainant of the case while Pori Moni was present in the courtroom.
The defense lawyer cross-examined the complainant, Deputy Assistant Director Md Majibur Rahman of RAB on different points about the recovery of narcotics from Pori Moni’s residence.
After the cross-examination, the court fixed July 19 for next hearing of the case.
On January 5, the same court framed charges against Pori Moni and two others.
