A court in Narail issued arrest warrant against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia the party’s standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in two separate cases filed for their “defamatory remarks” on martyrs freedom fighters and intellectuals.
Narail Sadar cognisance court judge Amatul Morsheda issued the arrest warrant on Wednesday afternoon.
On December 29, 2015 Sheikh Ashik Billah filed a defamation case in Narail Cognisance Court against Khaleda Zia for her “derogatory remarks” about the country and its creation through the Liberation War in
a programme marking the 45th Victory Day in the capital on December 21, 2015.
He filed another case against Gayeshwar on the same day for making similar comment at a programme in Dhaka on December 25 the same year.
