NAPE DG killed in road accident

Director General of National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) Md Fazlur Rahman was killed and four others were injured in a road accident at Boraiyahat in Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong district on Saturday morning.
The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses said, a microbus carrying five persons, including the DG, Fazlur Rahman, 55, collided head-on with a rod-laden truck at Boraiyahat around 7:00am leaving all of them injured.
Doctors of Chittagong Medical College and
Hospital (CMCH) declared Fazlur Rahman dead after his admission there.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatikchhari Police Station Md Abu Yusuf Mia said that the police reached the spot quickly and sent the injured to CMCH.
The victims were travelling to Khagrachhari to attend a programme, the police official said.
Fazlur Rahman was a member of BCS (Admin) Cadre, batch 1982 (Special). He was a Joint Secretary to the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. On January 19, 2015, he joined the NAPE as Director General.
Before joining there, he served in different capacities like upazila magistrate, thana nirbahi officer, additional deputy commissioner (education and development), marine safety officer and magistrate, deputy secretary and DIG prison and joint secretary.
He was born in a renowned Muslim family in Mymensingh.
