Name of CMU after Mohiuddin Chy demanded

Speakers at a memorial meeting at Chittagong Press Club (CPC) on Monday demanded to name the Chittagong Medical University (CMU) after ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury. Paying glowing tributes to Mohiuddin Chowdhury, they recalled contributions of Mohiuddin Chowdhury to the welfare of the people. They also said late Mohiuddin Chowdhury did a lot for social, cultural and educational fields in Chittagong during his long political carrier.
So the demand to name the Chittagong Medical College after Mohiuddin Chowdhury is logical, the speakers said and sought co-operation from Bangabandhu Daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to fulfill their demand.
It was Mohiuddin Chowdhury who led the politics of Bangladesh Awami League in Chittagong after the tragic assassination of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members in 1975, the speakers added.
Presided over by CPC President Kolim Sarwar, the memorial meeting was addressed, among others, by late Mohiuddin’s eldest son and organising Secretary of Bangladesh AL Mohiubul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, former CPC president and Director of Rupali Bank Abu Sufian, Chittagong south district AL General Secretary Mofizur Rahman, Raozan Upazila Chairman Ehsanul Haider Chowdhury Babul, Mohiuddin’s younger son Borhanul Hasan Chowdhury Saleheen, Vice President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Shahidul Alam, journalists leaders Helal Uddin Chowdhury, Moazzamul Hoque, Tapan Chakaraborti, Ratan Kanti Devasis and Mohammad Ali. The speakers also lauded the role of Mohiuddin Chowdhury for the development of Chittagong Press Club building.
Condolence meetingon Mohiuddin Chy held: Speakers at a condolence meeting on late former Mayor of Chittagong Mohiuddin Chowdhury paid rich tributes to him (Mohiuddin) and observed that the late Awami League leader left behind him many lessons to learn. Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, acting President of Chittagong City Awami League (AL) Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury recalled Mohiuddin’s immense contributions to the development of the port city and welfare of the common masses.
“We have many things to learn from the prolonged political legacy of Mohiuddin Chowdhury that he left for the rank and file of the party”, the acting president said. Mahtab was addressing the memorial meeting organized by the “Muktijuddah’s Family” in the city.
Vice-President of city AL Noyom Uddin Chowdhury, City AL advisor Sheikh Ishaq Mia and Sramik League leader Safar Ali, among others, addressed the function. Paying tribute to late freedom fighter A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Noyom Uddin Chowdhury said Mohiuddin Chowdhury raised himself as a politician from the grass-root level.
