Trafficking victims interrogated to divulge information

The Bangladeshi trafficking victims, now staying at the dormitory of Cox’s Bazar cultural centre, were interrogated separately on Tuesday to know about how and in what way they became the victims of human traffickers.
On Monday, after a flag meeting between Bangladesh and Myanmar, the Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) handed over 150 human trafficking victims to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
 “We are interrogating every human trafficking victims separately. We are also recording their statements to extract information about who had allured them to go to Malaysia in illegal way,” Mohammad Ali Hossain, deputy commissioner of Cox’s Bazar district told The New Nation on Tuesday.
Replying to a query, the Deputy Commissioner said after completion of all legal procedures they would be handed over to their respective families.
 “If any one is found involved in the human trafficking, stern action would be taken against him. We are at the concluding stage of the investigation,” Mohammad Ali Hossain said.
Talking to this reporter on Tuesday Shyamol Kumar Nath, Superintendent of Police of Cox’s Bazar district said they are investigating the human trafficking victims whether they were involved in any other crimes.
Out of total 150 human trafficking victims, some 55 people are from Narsingdi, 34 from Cox’s Bazar, 12 from Jhenidah, 10 from Bandarban, eight from Chittagong, five from Pabna, four from Chuadanga, four from Bagerhat, six from Brahmanbaria, four from Sunamganj, two from Narayanganj, three from Tangail, two from Jessore and one from Comilla.  
On May 21, Myanmar’s navy had rescued of a migrant boat, bringing 208 human trafficking victims, including Bangladesh nationals, to shore.
