Najmul Huda’s case against former CJ SK Sinha, hearing begins

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director Syed Iqbal Hossain testified yesterday in a case lodged over former BNP minister Barrister Najmul Huda’s filing a false case against former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar (SK) Sinha in the Special Judge Court-9 of Dhaka.
As cross-examination of Iqbal Hossain was not completed on Thursday, the first day of recording the depositions of the witness, Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman fixed June 28 to record depositions witnesses. On Thursday, Najmul Huda’s lawyer cross-examined the complainant, although the cross-examination was completed on Thursday.
On November 1 last year, ACC Director Benjir Ahmed, and also the Investigation Officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet of the case against the former BNP minister Najmul Huda.
Najmul Huda lodged the alleged false case against SK Sinha with Shahbagh Police Station in the city on September 27, 2018, for demanding bribe from him and changing the verdict of a graft case that had already been disposed of.
The ACC after investigation of the case for one a half years found the allegations baseless and false.
On December 4, 2019, discharging SK Sinha from the charges of the case, the anti-graft watchdog submitted the final report.
The ACC Director Syed Iqbal Hossain filed the case against Najmul Hudda with the ACC’s Integrated District office of Dhaka on February 19 of 2020.
Meanwhile, now in the USA SK Sinha was sentenced to imprisonment for 11 years in a money laundering case.
