The government has appointed Nahida Rahman Shumona as the next high commissioner of Bangladesh to Brunei.
Nahida Rahman is currently serving as Director General of Regional Organisations Wing at the foreign affairs ministry.
According to a ministry statement, Nahida is a foreign affairs cadre belonging to the 17th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), a career foreign service officer.
In her distinguished diplomatic career, she served in various capacities at Bangladesh missions in Brazil, Canada, India and Australia.
She has obtained her master’s degree in diplomacy and international trade from Monash University, Australia, and also holds a masters and honours degree in English literature from Dhaka University.
She is also a recipient of a fellowship in trans-boundary water law from Geneva University.
In her personal life, Nahida is married and has two sons.
