Nahid wants int’l coop for ICT in edn

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Sunday at a conference in China urged the world community to cooperate with those countries who are running behind in adopting ICT in education.
Nahid sought the cooperation while addressing a ministerial discussion, held as part of the ongoing ‘International Conference on ICT and Post-2015 Education’ at Qingdao in China, said a press release from the Education Ministry here.
Expressing concern over adverse effect of ICT on human lifestyle, the Bangladesh Education Minister said, “The experts need to be more cautious to retain the moral, social, religious and family values. Nothing should be part of our lifestyle at the cost of those values.”
He hoped that the ICT experts will come up with meaningful solutions to eradicate the adverse effects of ICT on human lifestyle with a special focus towards future generations.
After the discussion of the panel, the Education Minister answered different questions from the audience pertaining to the use of ICT in education of Bangladesh.
UNESCO Executive Board President Saleh Md Amr moderated the discussion, participated among others by Indian Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Zubin Irani, China Education Minister Du Zhanyuan, Japanese Education Minister Kihei Maekawa, Russian Educa-tion Minister Veniamin Shaevich KAGANOV, Niger Education Minister Aichatou Bety Habibou OUMANI, South African Basic Education Minister Enver Mohamed Surty and Afghan education minister Assadullah Hanif Balkhi.
