Columnist Syed Abul Maksud on Monday blamed that the incumbent Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid had destroyed the country’s education sector.
“Nahid has no achievement but frequent question papers leakage. He advised the officials to take bribe in a tolerance phase. He destroyed everything in education sector,” he said.
Maksud also demanded resignation of the Education Minister for undermining the newly nationalised teachers of colleges across the country.
He came up with these remarks in a Press conference held at the Jatiya Press Club, organised by Jatiya Oikya Forum, a platform of assimilation deprived 42 college teachers.
Fazle Hossain Badsha MP, Professor Mesbah Kamal of Dhaka University’s History Department, President of Oikya NAP Pankoj Battacharia, Member Secretary of Jatiya Oikya Forum Harun-or-Rashid and its members Parvin Akhter and Badrul Islam spoke at the conference, among others.
The Education Minister passed the degree course. So, how he will evaluate the Masters degree holder? Maksud asked.
Referring to the qualification of Dr Mohammad Shahidullah and Kabi Jasimuddin, he said the two legends obtained 3rd class in their final examinations. “Results can’t be only criteria to evaluate a teacher,” he said. Fazle Hossain Badsha said, the Education Ministry is doing controversial role in assimilating the newly nationalised teachers. “I support all the demands of you (teachers). I am always with you. I will place your demand in the Parliament,” he said.
Professor Mesbah Kamal blamed a portion of officials of the Education Ministry for creating such embarrassing situation.
“It is just humiliation for the teachers. The Ministry is doing unethical activities over assimilation process,” he said.
