Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Wednesday called upon the deputy commissioners (DCs) to increase their surveillance of all educational institutions across the country.
The minister gave the advice at a closed door meeting with the DCs on the second day of the four-day DC conference.
About the Education Act, the minister said that with the implementation of the law, it would be possible for all the educational institutions to maintain accounts of their earnings and expenditures.
It will also be a legal basis to curb the mushrooming growth of coaching centres, the minister added.
He said that the Education Ministry took many initiatives to create awareness among the teachers, the students and the guardians about the militancy and terrorism.
“I believe that the endeavor of Education Ministry will bring a fruitful result. I hope that the people of the country will not tolerate militancy and terrorism. They will also prevent all the attempts to
spread evil elements,” he said. The DCs informed the minister that they had already received the directives from the ministry to address the issue of militancy.
They also assured the minister that they would work more to eliminate militancy from the country.
