N. gonj’s Shaon was in front of BNP’s rally before being killed

An activist of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, the youth wing of the main opposition the BNP, was killed and at least 50 people were injured in a clash between police and the opposition party members in Narayanganj city on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Shaon Prodhan, 21.
Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said that the BNP activists started a rally at about 10:45am, marking the party’s founding anniversary.
When the procession reached the No-2 rail gate area at about 11:30am, police stopped them, triggering clash between police and the party men.
At one stage, the protesters attacked the cops, prompting the law enforcers to fire rubber bullets, the police officials said.
The whole Bangabandhu road from No-2 rail gate point turned into a battlefield during the clash that left at least 50 people injured.
Shaon received bullet injuries during the clash. He was taken to Narayanganj General Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, a photo showed that Jeans and T-shirt wearing Shaon was in front of the Juba dal procession just before his killing, become viral on social media.
Shaon’s elder brother Farhad Prodhan said that he (Shaon) was not involved in politics.
He was working as welding mechanic in a factory in Enayetgonj in the city.
He just took part in the procession responding some Juba dal leader’s call.
Two activists of the Juba dal who brought Shaon’s dead body to the hospital said that Shaon received a bullet while he was standing with others activists of the organization in front of the Gulshan Cinema Hall near the no-2 rail gate.
They said that the others were fled when Shaon received the bullet.
Later, they have taken him to the hospital.
At the afternoon, it was shown that Shaon’s dead body was kept in a stretcher and two of his elder brothers were informing the sad news to their relatives with tears.
