Staff Reporter :
A year has elapsed since murder of six persons by unidentified assailants in the city’s Gopibagh area. But the mystery behind the murders is yet to be unearthed although four suspects have been arrested.
Given the sensitivity of the case, the investigation charge was given over to Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on December 22 last year, just a day after the murders.
DB police have so far arrested four Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) men in the case. They were taken on remands in two phases but to no avail.
When contacted, Jahangir Hossain Matubbor, Deputy Commissioner of DB (East) police said, investigation into the cases is under way but there has been no major development yet.
“It is taking time as the killers are professional. They rarely left any clue behind but we are doing our level best to discover the mystery,” said DC Jahangir.
Earlier on December 21 in 2013, so-called spiritual leader Lutfar Rahman Faruk, 60, was killed at his rented house on the 64/6 Ramkrishna Mission Road of Gopibagh. The other five were his son Monir Hossain, 30, followers Saidur Rahman, 30, Mojibur Rahman, 32, Russell, 30, and caretaker of the house Monjur Alam alias Monju.
