Improving services in community clinics underscored

More transparency and accountability in providing essential health services to the rural people from the community clinics and upazila health complexes could further improve health status of the common people.
The views were expressed at a views-sharing meeting on ‘Improving Quality of Service in Upazila Health Complexes and Community Clinics’ held at the auditorium of Kawnia Upazila Health Complex yesterday. Authority of Kawnia Upazila Health Complex with assistance of the Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC) organised the meeting with Kawnia Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Nahid Banu Dilruba Islam in the chair.
District Combined Office of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and RDRS Bangladesh assisted under Justice Reform and Corruption Prevention (JRCP) Project being implemented with German Development Cooperation funding in arranging the meeting.
Assistant Director of Rangpur District Combined Office of ACC Atikur Rahman attended the meeting as the chief guest. Kawnia Upazila Muktijoddha Commander Md Suruzzaman, District Manager of JRCP Project Ershad M Rasel, General Secretary of Kawnia Upazila CPC Shah Awlad Hossain and Dr S M Kamal attended the occasion as the special guests. Publisher & Editor of the weekly “Protyashar Alo’ Sarwar Alam Mukul and local journalist Jahir Raihan addressed, among others. Government officials, members of the community clinic managing committees, Community Health Care Providers (CHCPs), volunteers, health service providers, health assistants, public representatives and local elite were present.
The speakers discussed the government’s community clinic vision for ensuring health services to rural people, mothers, pregnant women, babies and children and responsibility of the community clinic managing committees, CHCPs and others.
Dr Dilruba Islam narrated the successes already achieved in providing health services by the upazila health complexes and community clinics, responsibilities of community clinic managing committee members, CHCPs and their proper coordination.
The chief guest stressed on importance of ensuring essential health services for common people, safe pregnancy and safer maternity and safe delivery at the upazila health complexes and community clinics with better maternal and neonatal health services.
He urged the physicians, CHCPs and health volunteers for ensuring transparency and sensitising common people in availing essential health services at upazila health complex and community clinics to ensure safe pregnancy, safe delivery for safe motherhood.
