BGB warning: Myanmar will get befitting reply in case of fresh firing

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) yesterday warned Myanmar of “befitting response” if such incidents of firing and killing take place on the border in future.
Brigadier General Syed Ahmed Ali, a commander of BGB in Chittagong region, came up with the warning while addressing a press briefing at the BGB’s Naikkhangchhari Battalion-31 headquarters of Bandarban.
The briefing was organised after the body of BGB Nayek Mizanur Rahman
was taken to the headquarters in the morning.
At the briefing, the BGB commander announced that Mizanur’s family will be given Tk 5 lakh on behalf of BGB.
The family will get other government facilities as per the rules, he added.
The commander said Myanmar authorities has sent a letter to the BGB to sit for a flag meeting at the country’s Bangdhu district on June 5. “We are yet to decide whether we will join the meeting,” he added.

The first namaz-e-janaza of Mizanur Rahamn will be held at 9:00am on Monday.
Mizanur will be buried at his home village Bholanagar in Debidwar upazila of Comilla Monday after his second namaz-e-janaza, said BGB Cox’s Bazar Sector Commander Col Khandakar Farid Hasan.
BGP shot Mizanur on Wednesday and forcibly took away him intruding Bangladesh territory. Myanmar soldiers returned his body to the BGB officials at Painchhari in Naikkhangchhari on Saturday.
His body was taken to Naikkhangchhari battalion-31 Headquarters in the morning.
Later, the body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
