Myanmar urged to take Rohingyas back

Khulna city unit Awami League leaders on Thursday urged the government of Myanmar to take imminent steps for the sustainable return of Rohingya refugees to their homeland in safety and with ensured livelihood.
Hundreds of leaders and activists of all ward, thana units and all front organizations of AL joined the mammoth human chain from 11.00am to 12.30pm at the city’s Picture Palace intersection.
The AL leaders termed Rohingya persecution as one of cruelest mass killing and said that it is planned act of Myanmar government.
They thanked the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the government for sheltering the minority refugees and boldness speech and some proposals at the United Nations about Rohingya issue.
Leaders also called upon the world leaders to show a unity for solving the Rohingya crisis before it’s too late.
Parliament member and President of Khulna city unit AL Talukder Abdul Khaleque presided over the programme while parliament member and general secretary Mizanur Rahman Mizan addressed as key speaker.
Conducted by AL office secretary Mahbub Alam Sohag and deputy publicity secretary Mofidul Islam Tutul the human chain was addressed by Sheikh Hayder Ali, Sheikh Siddiqur Rahman, Liaquat Ali, Nur Islam Bond, Faruk Ahmed, Sheikh Sayed Ali, Advocate Saiful Islam and Professor Hosneara Runu, among others.
Meanwhile, different socio-cultural-political organizations and
educational institutions including Khulna University and Khulna University
(KU) of Engineering and Technology (KUET) staged demonstrations in the city
last couple of days protesting genocide and persecution of Rohingya Muslims
by the Myanmar security forces in Rakhine State.
