A six member Press delegation from Myanmar led by General Secretary of the Myanmar Press Council (MPC), Thiha Saw (U Thiha) called on Information minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Thursday afternoon at latter’s office in Bangladesh Secretariat, says a press release.
Information minister briefed the Myanmar journalists on the milestone roles of government under the leadership of Prime minister Shekh Hasina for free flow of information, freedom of media and journalists’ welfare. `It is the government of Sheikh Hasina, that opened private sector for television, FM radio and community radio. At the same time, institutionalize the welfare of journalists by establishment of Journalist Welfare Trust through law’, said Hasanul Haq Inu.
Myanmar Press Council General Secretary Thiha Saw exclaimed that there was no state-run newspaper in Bangladesh and narrated how Myanmar was transiting from military rule to democratic process under the leadership of Prime minister Aung San Suu Kyi.
The delegation that came under Ministry of Foreign Affairs` (MOFA) `Visit Bangladesh’ programme handed a handicraft piece to the minister as a token of remembrance.
Two other MPC members U Chit Naing and U Zeyar along with Vice President of the Myanmar Journalists Association U Myat Khaing, Member of the Myanmar Journalists Network (MJN) U Kyaw Zeyar Tun, Member of the Myanmar Journalists Union (MJU) Daw Padamya Nini also joined the call on.
Director General-EP Wing of MOFA Md. Lutfor Rahman, Director AFM Aminul Islam and PR Officer for the Ministry of Information were present along with conducting officers of MOFA.
