Farmers became happy as mustard produced exceeded target in Netrakona. Some 6,800 tonnes of mustard produced in the district during the last mustard harvesting period.
Dpartment of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Netrakona office said a target was fixed by the government to produce 6,754 tonnes of mustard from 5,195 hectares of land. But, the farmers have cultivated mustard on 5,250 hectares of land exceeding the cultivation target through bringing additional 55 hectares of land under the cultivation.
“Farmers could cultivate mustard on more 55 hectares of land against the targeted land as the weather condition was suitable and the government has undertaken various farmer-friendly programmes like providing agricultural incentives to the mustard growers,” Deputy Director of the Netrakona DAE FM Mubarak Ali said.
