For almost two weeks, Israel bristled with confidence and pride. The Iron Dome air defense system was dependably zapping incoming Hamas ineffective home-made rockets from the skies, the military was successfully repelling infiltration attempts on the ground and from the sea, and the conflict with Hamas was causing almost no casualties in Israel.The young Israelis joke on telephones, to quote Western press, to each other that the fighters in Gaza are hiding like mice. Nearly six hundred Palestinians, mainly civilians, have been killed since the Israeli rampage began as against that Israel lost only 25 soldiers. Hamas is no match to fight Israel. They have no regular soldier and they have no modern weapons. They are brave fighters, but certainly desperate. But in a face to face confrontation Israeli army will not find it easy. It is likely that Israel prompted Hamas to be reckless. While the rest of the world, including the US, does not hesitate to condemn Bashar Assad and call him a tyrant for killing his own people, and the Dutch started their own war crimes trial against the Russians for killing their civilians in an air attack. The Western world in general and the US in particular are notably recalcitrant when it comes to condemning Israel for its brutalities against helpless Palestinian Muslims. What is disappointing and insulting is that in the face of inhuman killings of civilians in Gaza, President Obama had no difficulty in saying that Israel has the right to defend itself. Gaza is not Israel but it is under its occupation. He lacked honest courage to say that the Palestinians have also their right to statehood and Israel must recognize that. It is too unfortunate, not only for Muslims but for peace in Israel and Middle East, to see how the President of the United States President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry are advocating ceasefire one wonders on whose behalf they are talking and serving whose interest. America is failing to be impartial like a great power believing in respect for life and human rights. It is known to the world that America’s weapons are used in killing the Muslims. If Russia can be blamed by America for supplying weapons being used by Ukrainian rebels, why America should not be blamed for Israeli army using American weapons for killing innocent Muslims in Gaza. Muslim countries spend billions of dollars in buying weapons from America. Let the Muslim fighters in Palestine get some of those weapons to make a difference in facing Israeli aggression. Whole of Muslim world must feel ashamed for Israel’s savagery against unarmed Muslims in Gaza. It is not necessary for Muslims to face holocaust as ‘mice’.Netanyahu is acting like a mad Hitler and enjoying killing of unarmed Muslims in Gaza. He behaves with the Palestinians as a subject for obeying orders and leaving the homes for shelter when he orders them to do so. The big question is ceasefire for what. There were ceasefire before also. But Netanyahu’s madness has not stopped. He has nuclear power at his disposal. He will not rest till he faces a full war. Muslim countries do not need America’s help for truce in Gaza.
