Mushfiqur Rahim’s finger injury not so serious

UNB, Khulna :Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim’s right finger injury on the 2nd day of first Test against Pakistan on Wednesday, was not so serious as his X-ray report did not show any fracture. Bangladesh captain suffered finger injury in the 35th over of the Pakistani innings on the 2nd day when he dived to his right, attempting for a catch, offered by Pakistani batsman Azhar Ali, off Bangladeshi debutant pacer Mohammad Shahid delivery. But the ball struck low on his hand and popped out giving the batsman a third life. Soon after, Mushfiqur Rahim left the field for medical treatment and Imrul Kayes kept wicket in his place from final drinks break.Later, “The X-ray report didn’t show anything serious like fracture,” Bangladesh media manager Rabeed Imam said. “He is now taking medicine and applying ice. He will take the field on the third day (Thursday) if the pain is managed tonight.”Mushfiqur kept wicket for another eleven balls before he left for the dressing room at 3.55 pm as the drinks trolley rolled out. Bangladesh vice-captain Tamim Iqbal led the side till the end of the 2nd day’s play.
