An accused of a murder case was hacked to death by his rivals over previous enmity in Sonatola area of sadar upazila in the district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Mohsin Mia, 35, son of Abdul Hannan of Sonatola area.
Additional Police Superintendent Shariar Alam said Mahsin, who was accused a case filled for killing his neighbor Alataf Kazi, was freed on bail two months back.
The sons of Altaf Kazi swooped on Mohsin while he was attending a local arbitration at Sonatola around 12 pm, said the police super.
They chased Mohsin and at one stage hacked him to death.
After being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
