Ishwardi is famous for producing sweet juicy litchi as well as blackberries. The wholesale market of Muladuli of the upazila has become colorful with the juice of ripe jam. Hundreds of buyers and sellers from different parts of the country are now walking in the market. Jams worth Tk 20 to 25 lakh are sold at this market every day. Due to its taste and quality, wholesalers from different parts of the country including the capital Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Barisal come to Muladuli’s yard to buy jam.
Ishwardi’s Muladuli, Dashuria, Faridpur, Goalbathan, Chandpur, Baghhachala and adjoining Atgharia’s Parkhidirpur, Mazpara, Khidirpur, Lalpur’s Palideha, Lalpur’s old Ishwardi, Kachua, Raksa, Duarias. After the berries ripen, the owners of the trees bring them to the market. As it is a short-term fruit, the jam market is at most one month long.
Locally, pot jam, thaki jam and small jam are available here. At present, berries are being sold in the wholesale market at Tk. 50 to Tk. 65 per kg depending on the size. Three or four truckloads of jams are being shipped to different parts of the country every day. The financial prosperity of the farmers of the area has increased by selling blackberries.
