Bangladesh Muktijoddha sangsad Krira Chakra moved into the last four beating Dhaka Abahani Limited by a solitary goal in the 4th quarter-final match of the Federation Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Muktijoddha forward Enamul Haque grabbed a back pass of Abahani defender Ariful Islam in the 35th minute and saw Abahani goalie Ziaur Rahman was out of position, but Enamul hit the ball outside the side post.
In the 40th minute, Fekri Zeiada, the Egyptian midfielder of Muktijoddha unleashed a fierce drive from the top of the box, however Abahani goalie Ziaur Rahman punched the ball and save his team from danger.
Abahani’s substitute forward Aminur Rahman Sajib broke through the Muktijoddha defence in the 49th minute but saw his shot rock the crosspiece.
However, Muktijoddha broke the deadlock in the 95th minute through their Senegalese forward Caamara Sarba. Defender Mohiuddin Ibnul Siraji curved a cross from the right to middle of the box where the tall striker Camara headed the ball down into net (1-0).
Abahani closed to level the score in the 107th minute but defender Ariful’s header was saved by opponent defender Anisul Alam from the goalline.
Abahani were frustrated again when their Nigerian forward Tayo Fabiyi’s volley hit the crosspiece in the 117th minutes.
Muktijoddha SKC will play against Dhaka Mohammedan SC Ltd in the second semifinal on Monday next.
