Muktijoddha Sangsad KC registered their 5th victory in their 8th match of the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League beating Dhaka Abahani Ltd by 1-0 goal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Tuesday.By virtue of the day’s well-merited win, the freedom fighters’ team Muktijoddha advanced to the 2nd slot in the league table securing 16 points from eight matches after league leader and holders Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, which bagged 19 points from seven outings.With the day’s 2nd defeat in the league, the sky blue-yellow popular Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited went down to the 4th place with 13 points from seven matches. Dhaka Mohammedan also bagged 13 points from seven matches, but they went ahead of Abahani with better goal difference. In the day’s match, Senegalese forward Camara Sarba scored the match-winning goal for Muktijoddha SKC in the 12th minute by a good header, off a right wing curved cross from defender Mohiuddin Ibnul Siraji (1-0). Camara managed another chance to double the margin but his placing shot was saved by Abahani’s goalie Ziaur Rahman.Abahani forward Wahed Ahmed squandered a chance to level the margin as he failed to beat Muktijoddha custodian Titumir Chowdhury in one to one situation, off a long pass of medio Shahedul Alam Shahed. Abahani striker Wahed Ahmed managed another opportunity to neutralize the margin but his header, off Imon Babu cross, hit the top of the net in the 61st minute. League leader Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will face Dhaka Mohammedan SC in a vital league match on Wednesday. Channel 9 will telecast the match live.
