The historic Mujibnagar Day was observed yesterday to recall the day in 1971 of the oath-taking of the country’s first government.
The Mujibnagar Government had discharged entire duties in leading the Liberation War creating public opinion infavour of newly independent Bangladesh in the world arena managing the refugees standing beside the war-time.
Countrymen and leading the war time government. Kishoreganj District Administration, ruling Awami League, Jasod, Gunatantree Party and socio-cultural organsations arranged many programmes marking the Mujibnagar Day.
District Administration arranged a discussion meeting at local Art Council Hall.

On April 17 in 1971, Bangladesh government-in-exile took oath at Baidyanathtala mango grove in Meherpur, in the then Kushtia district.
Marking the day, a discussion meeting was held at Shilpakala Academy auditorium largely attended by cross-section people including freedom fighters, government and non-government officials, members of the civil society, professional leaders and cultural personalities..
BSS from Meherpur adds: Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and Meherpur district administration has taken a day long programmes to observe the Mujibnagar Day here tomorrow to recall the history as on April 17 in 1971 the nation witnessed the oath-taking of the country’s first government. The other programmes of the day included placing floral wreaths at the memorial monument at 9 am and presenting guard of honour and parade by freedom fighters, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), police, Ansar, BNCC, Scout, Girl Guides and school students.
