‘Mujibnagar Day’ observed in dists

The historic Mujibnagar Day was observed in Ishwardi with due dignity on Sunday. On the occasion of the day, national and party flags were hoisted at the Upazila Awami League office in the morning and a wreath was laid at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu.
After handing over the wreath, Freedom fighters Alhaj Nuruzzaman Biswas MP of Pabna-4 constituency, addressed the party leaders and workers and said that April 17 is a memorable day in the long journey of Bengali freedom struggle and liberation war. Our great freedom gained in exchange for many sacrifices. Bangabandhu always dreamed of building a happy and prosperous country along with political independence.
Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government is making relentless efforts to realize his dream. On Mujibnagar Day, he urged all to fulfill their respective responsibilities in building the country inspired by the spirit of liberation war.
Vice President of Upazila Awami League Freedom fighters Mohammad Rashidullah, Freedom fighters Golam Mostafa Channa Mandal, Professor Akram Hossain, General Secretary and former Mayor Abul Kalam Azad Mintu, General Secretary and Mayor of Municipal Awami League Ishaq Ali Malitha, Former Joint Secretary of District Awami League Bashir Ahmed Bakul, Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Khan, Joint Secretary of Upazila Awami League Murag Malitha, District Council Member Shafiul Alam Biswas, Vice President of Municipal Awami League Abdul Khaleq, Joint Secretary Shafiqul Islam Bachchu along with leaders and activists of Upazila and Municipal Awami League and various affiliated organizations were present.
Manikganj Correspondent says: The historic ‘Mujibnagar Day’ was celebrated on Sunday at the initiative of ShibalayaUpazila Administration. AM Naimur Rahman Durjoy MP was the chief guest at the discussion on the theme ‘Historic Mujibnagar Day and Independence of Bangladesh’.
Shibalaya presided over the meeting organized by ShibalayaUpazilaParishad auditorium. Zahidur Rahman. Upazilachairman as a special guest. Rezaur Rahman Khan, Vice Chairman MirajHossain Lalon, Runa Akhter, Sudeep Ghosh Basu, Secondary Education Officer GolamFaruk, Journalist Babul Akhtar Manzur and others spoke.

Tributes were paid to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait at the Mujib Chattar in the town in the morning on the occasion on Sunday.
Later, the district administration arranged a grand procession that was drawn out from its premises.
Lawmaker of the reserved seat of Chapainawabganj 38 Ferdousi Islam Jesi inaugurated the procession by flying baloons. Valiant freedom fighters, government and non-government officials, teachers and students of different educational institutions participated in the procession.
A discussion was also held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) with the DC AKM Galiv Khan in the chair.
Ferdousi Islam Jesi MP attended it as the chief guest.
Among others, valiant freedom fighter Advocate Abdus Samad and additional deputy commissioner Zakiul Islam spoke on the occasion.
The day was also observed in other upazilas of the district.
