Staff Reporter :
Finance Minister AMA Muhith should not have spoken anything on the election process. And he has made a mistake over his comment on the date of next national election, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Thursday.
“We did not tell him anything that he had said. He made a mistake. He should not have done such thing,” he said this responding to a question at a news conference after the concluding meeting of the Forum of Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBOSA) at Radisson Hotel in Dhaka.
The CEC said, “I am saying in front of media that it’s not his work. He made a mistake.”
Nurul Huda informed that the FEMBOSA conference ended yesterday with focus to a nine-point declaration. The remarkable points include work together in this region for free and fair elections, development of voter registration etc.
He also acknowledged that Bangladesh has been selected FEMBOSA Chairman for one year and the next conference will be held in Bhutan.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday said that the election-time government would be formed in next 20 days comprising Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and few more ministers.
He also predicted that the next general election was likely to be held on December 27.
He made the remarks when the newly-elected mayor and councillors of Sylhet City Corporation met him at his secretariat office in the afternoon.
