Mohammedan SC beat Brothers Union Club by 44 runs in a match of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at BKSP ground-3 in Savar on Tuesday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Mohammedan SC scored 259 runs for 9 wickets in stipulated 50 overs.
Mohammedan faced early jolt losing opener Sayem Alam (9) and one down Mithun (11) for 45 runs in 8.4 overs.
Number two batsman Ejaz Ahmed pairing with skipper Naeem Islam repaired the early damage contributing 103 runs in 27.1 overs in the third wicket stand before Ejaz was stumped by Jabed Hossain off Asif Hasan leaving team total at 148 for 3 in 35.5 overs.
Ejaz Ahmed made a half century scoring team highest 84 runs off 119 balls with seven fours and three sixes.
Naeem Islam made another half century scoring 52 runs off 84 balls with four fours before caught by Shahajada Hossain off Ahmed Sadiqur with scoreboard showing 185 for 5 in 42.3 overs.
Number six Ariful Haque smashed 47 runs off 36 balls with a four and four sixes while Tanvir Haider (17) was the other double digit scorer.
Asif Hasan bowled brilliantly to claim five wickets for 47 runs in 10 overs. Ahmed Sadiqur grabbed two wickets for 37 runs while Nazmus Sadat took one wicket for 62 runs, both in 10 overs.
Chasing 260 runs, Brothers Union conceded defeat scoring 215 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs.
Nazmus Sadat scored team highest 46 runs off 61 balls with a four and two sixes.
Ahmed Sadiqur (not out 32), Shahajada Hossain (not out 31), Aftab Ahmed (22), opener Avishek Mitra (21), number eight Jabed Hossain(18), Roman Ahmed (17) and skipper Nazim Uddin (15) were the other double digit scorers for Brothers.
Amit Kumar grabbed two wickets for 28 runs in 10 overs; Rahatul Ferdous also took two wickets for 45 runs in 8 overs while Tanvir Haider, Naeem Islam and Alauddin Babu took one wicket apiece.
In the day’s other matches, Prime Bank Cricket Club beat Kalabagan Cricket Academy by 113 runs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur while Partex Sporting Club won by 12 runs against Old DOHS Sports Club at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
