The CNG auto- rickshaw drivers siege the house of Awami league lawmaker from Sitakunda constituency in Chittagong Md. Didarul Alam at city gate area in the city yesterday.
The CNG autorickshaw demanded permission for four hours time for plying in Dhaka-chittagong highway.
The drivers of CNG observed the gherao program for about one hour from 10 am. Mentionable that to avoid the accidents in highway, govt banned the 3-wheelers in the highway from August 1.
Protesting the ban of 3-wheelers , several agitations held in different areas of the highway for the last one week. In the meantime govt allowed only two hours to them for taking gas from filling stations but the drivers demanded four hours to stay in the highway for the purpose as sometimes it takes more than 2 hours to take gas.
The drivers gathered in front of his residence there. The law maker told the agitated drivers that he will talk this matter with the concerned ministry and he has no right to sanction permission . After assurance of the legislator, the agitated driversleft the venue .
Police sources said no untoward incident occurred during their demonstration and following the assurance of the MP , the agitated drivers left the place peacefully.
