UNB, Dhaka :
BNP on Monday warned that it will resist the government’s any plot to remove its founder Ziaur Rahman’s grave from parliament area at any cost.
Speaking at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also said taking any move
to relocate Zia’s grave by the government is tantamount to signing its fall willingly. “Eexperts have said it’s not possible to fully implement parliament’ s original design made by Louis I Kahn. Even though the current illegal regime is making a blueprint to remove Independence proclaimer Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam’s grave from there,” he said. Rizvi further said, “We would like to unequivocally say that people won’t allow the government to implement its blueprint. The nationalist forces will resist the move with its all strengths. We’ll thwart the conspiracy at any cost.”
The Housing and Public Works Minister last year announced to remove eight graves, including BNP founder Zia’s one, and some other establishments, set up in the parliament area reshaping the original design by Louis I Kahn. Later, the government took the initiative to bring the original design from the USA. Louis I Kahn’s original design reached Dhaka on Thursday from the US’ Pennsylvania University.
Asked what programme their party will take if the government takes initiative to relocate Zia’s grave, Rizvi said their party policymakers will work out it.
