UNB, Dhaka :The Supreme Court on Sunday asked BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed to file leave-to-appeal petition by September 3 against a High Court order rejecting his pleas challenging the legality of a lower court order that had accepted charges against him in a case filed over grabbing a government house.A four-member Appellate Division bench, headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha, passed the order. The court also fixed September 3 for the next hearing in the case.Earlier on August 23, the apex court stayed the proceedings of the case till yesterday (August 30) asking Moudud to file a leave-to-appeal petition by this time. However, the BNP leader on Sunday informed the court that he could not file the appeal as he did not get the copy of the HC order within the time.On December 17, 2013, the ACC filed the case against Moudud and his brother Manzur on charge of grabbing a government house worth about Tk 300 crore in the city’s Gulshan area.ACC deputy director Harun-or-Rashid submitted a charge sheet to the CMM court against the two brothers-Moudud and Manzur-on May 26 last year.On September 14, 2014, the CMM Court took cognisance of the charge sheet against them.
