Women and Children Affairs Ministry signed separate memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Home Ministry and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) division on Thursday for interconnectivity of their respective telephone help lines to provide integrated services to the people.
According to a women affairs ministry statement, their 109 helpline would now be integrated with home ministry’s 999 and ICT division’s 333.
The 109 so far was meant for providing supports against women and children abuses alone, the 999 offered only police, fire and ambulance services and the 333 was offering helps in addressing social issues like child marriages, narcotics and information about government offices.
