A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) at Embassy of Switzerland in Dhaka recently.
The objectives of the MoU are to exchange research activities especially in the field of Applied Sciences amongst the public research institutions of both the countries. As per the MoU, ZHAW will provide seed money grants, mobility grants and bridging grants to the selected researchers.
UGC Secretary Dr Md. Khaled and Dean of Applied Linguistics of ZHAW Prof Dr Daniel Perrin signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations.
UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan, Director Dr Md. Fakhrul Islam, Additional Director Jesmin Pervin and Deputy Secretary of UGC Md. Shahin Siraj, were present.
The UGC Chairman said, ‘As per the MoU, the public research institutions of Bangladesh and Switzerland will jointly carry out scientific research projects on mutual interest.’
The agreement will facilitate the higher education links with Switzerland. ‘The deal will strengthen the bondage of the two friendly countries,’ he added.
ZHAW has been ranked as 90th in World University Rankings 2019. It is a leading house for research collaboration which carried out joint research with partner institutions in South Asia. It also promotes and fosters scientific cooperation with other key institutions of Asia.
