Witnessing the huge pressure of motorcycles on the first day of the opening of the Padma Bridge, the Bridge Division has banned the plying of motorcycles from 6am on Monday.
The Bridge Division on Sunday issued a circular banning the plying of motorcycles since 6am from Monday and this suspension will continue till further notice.
Of the total vehicular movement on Sunday, around 60 percent vehicles were motorcycles which forced the authority to impose the ban on the motorcycles.
Meanwhile, two motorbikes clashed each other at Sunday night while they were on high speed on the Padma bridge, leaving two bikers injured gravely.
Officer-in-Charge of Padama Police Station (North) Alamgir Hossaid said, “We have heard of the accident. Actions would be taken accordingly.”
